Warwick Wilshier received the Outstanding Industry Achievement Award for services to log truck safety. (From Left) Warwick Wilshier, IRTENZ National Secretary Kate Bucknell, and IRTENZ President Dom Kalasih. IRTENZ – Outstanding Industry Achievement Award – Warwick Wilshier T his year’s IRTENZ Outstanding Industry Achievement Award has gone to Warwick Wilshier, managing director of Williams and Wilshier Ltd, for services to log truck safety. The award was presented to Warwick at the biennial IRTENZ conference held in Rotorua this week. IRTENZ president Dom Kalasih told attendees at this year’s IRTENZ conference that Warwick was instrumental in the formation of the Log Truck Safety Council (LTSC) in 1996, a time of chronic log truck roll over incidents. “ The log truck industry chose to take responsibility for the problem they faced and put in place the initiatives to effect real change, rather than wait for legislators to address the problem in a way the industry may not have found suitable. Warwick has served as chair since the LTSC’s inception. Today’s log truck industry is unrecognisable compared with the one the group who embarked on the turnaround in 1996 faced,” said Kalasih.
